Apr 5, 1956 – J. W. Cooksey Laid To Rest
Funeral services for James William Cooksey, 75, who passed away March 26, 1956 were conducted Wednesday afternoon, March 28, in the Fairview Baptist Church by Bro. J. F. Light and Rev. D. G. Hindman. Burial was in the Violet Hill Cemetery by Crouch Funeral Home.

He was born near Franklin, Arkansas, September 24, 1880 and was the son of John and Delilah Cooksey. He resided near Violet Hill most of his life.

He was married to Mary Eula Rogers, March 28, 1909 who preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Church of God.

He is survived by one son, Lessie Cooksey of El Dorado, Arkansas and four daughters, Mrs Carl Hames of Violet Hill, Arkansas; Mrs Sterling Forrest of Brockwell, Arkansas and Misses Vessie and Millie Cooksey of Melbourne; two sisters, Mrs Rena Pierce of Violet Hill and Mrs Martha Dillard of Franklin; one grandson and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were: Wesley Carpenter, Denver Hulett, Ben Fleming, Roby Southard, Rex Shrable and Noel Walker.
