Harold,
J.C. Montgomery is mom's brother. That is all he ever went by and what is on his grave marker. There are those that have said it was for "Jimmy Clifton" Because his father's name was Clifton Montgomery: not so says his son, Michael Montgomery.

J. C. Montgomery,
Funeral services for J.C. Montgomery, age 84, will be held at 3:00 PM on
Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons
with Dr. Phillip Jett and Rev Brent Lay officiating. Burial will follow in
Ridgecrest Cemetery. Mr. Montgomery died on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at
Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Montgomery was born on January
4, 1920 in Wiseman, Arkansas the son of the late Clifton and Nettie Lee
Milligan Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery was a retired Baptist Minister and a
member of Englewood Baptist Church. Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife
Ruby Montgomery of Jackson, TN; two daughters Melba Pratt of Richmond, VA
and Marilyn Letvin and husband John of New Port Richey, FL; one son Michael
Montgomery and wife Mary Ann of Jackson, TN; three sisters Sibyl Boles of
Memphis, TN, Von Mc Vey and husband Gee of Wenatchee, Washington, Doris
Parish and husband Bob of Searcy, Arkansas; four grandchildren Jason
Montgomery, Mark Montgomery and wife Julia, John Courtney Letvin and wife
Gretchen, Leigh Ann Reed and husband Brent. He is also survived by three
great grandchildren. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his brother
Conway Montgomery and his sister Gynon Gerber. The family requests Memorials
be directed to Englewood Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will
receive friends today from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
