Calico Rock Progress - Jul 20, 1951 - Four Perish in Fire Near Pocahontas

Pocahontas, Ark. - Four persons perished when flames destroyed their farm
home near here Thursday afternoon.

There were; Mrs Marvin W. Sharp, 27, a son age 2 and two daughters, ages
three years and two months. Four other children escaped the burning house.
One of them said the fire stated when their mother poured kerosene into a
stove. The Sharps lived in a sparsely settled area about 15 miles northwest
of Pocahontas.

Mrs Sharp was an English war bride who met her husband while he was in
service.

Mr Sharp was away from home when the fire started, but returned as the blaze
reached its peak. He and a neighbor were severely burned when they rushed
into the burning house in an effort to rescue Mrs Sharp and the children.
