JAMES A HIGHTOWER

MELBOURNE--James Allie Carter Hightower, 103,

of Melbourne died Friday in a Melbourne nursing

home.

Born in Evening Shafe, she was the daughter of

John and Mindy Cain Carter. She was a home

maker and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

Surivors include a son, Luther Marlin of Zion; a

daughter, Lula Lawhon of Melbourne; a stepson,

Homer Hightower of Pocahontas; a stepdaughter,

Zora Stephenson of Muskogee, Ok; three brothers,

Bill Carter of Oregon, Claud Carter of California and

David Carter of Evening Shade; five grandchildren;

15 great-grandchildren; and 21 great great grand

children.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2pm today at

Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Gail Johnson

officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery with

arrangements by Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Pallbearers were J. P. Wolford, Ed Jestice, Huey

Morgan, Brad Jestice, Harold Marlin and Jeff Jestice.

Honorary pallbearers were Boyce Haley, Cliff Darr,

T. O. Whitten, Almie Melton, Don Tomlinson and

Rayburne Johnson.
