Subject: James H. Staggs/Robert Henry Benbrooks

James H. Staggs who assumed the mane of Robert Henry Benbrooks after
escaping from prison in Arkansas, went to Utah Territory and married
Elizabeth Lily Smith b. 13 May 1866 in Benjamin, Utah Territory. He
married her on 9 May 1882 at Bear Lake in Idaho Territory.
In the 1870 Census of Montana Territory, Gallatin, East Gallatin, a
person I believe to be Elizabeth's father, George Henry Smith b. 7
Apr 1837 England, is living with a group of men, miners and farm
workers. (Robert Henry Benbrooks and Elizabeth Lily (Smith) Benbrooks
moved to Gallatin County Montana Territory about 1900.)
The interesting thing about the 1870 Census is that Elizabeth's
father George is living in a house with Joseph Staggs. Could that
Joseph Staggs be related to the real James H. Staggs from Arkansas?
