CHEROKEE VILLAGE - Virgil Edward Kent, 80, of Cherokee Village died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at his home.

Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Marion, Ill., he was the son of Roland and Eva Watson Kent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He was retired from General Motors. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 346 and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Clorice Thweatt Kent; three sons, Marvin E. Kent of Mountain Home, Danny B. Kent and Roland E. Kent; a daughter, Patricia J. Miller of Indianapolis; a sister, Cecile Eaton of Cutler, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Michael Miller, Katherine Miller, Matthew Miller, Mercedes Kent and Crystal Deems.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Kent; and a sister, Gladys Kent.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion, Ill.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, Ill.

Local arrangements are by Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
