The surgery is usually used to remove excess soft tissue in your throat
which partially blocks your airway when you lie down. It can be done by
traditional methods or by the newer laser surgery. A friend of mine had
it done by laser and drove home after the operation!!!

They also do tonsillectomy and adenoidectomys when the tonsils or adenoids
partially block the airway. (most commonly found in children).......Harold
