As Don and others have pointed out, I was off a year about when the USAF was
created. 1947 is the correct year.

1907-The United States Army Signal Corps started aviation with an
Aeronautical Section
1914- The U.S. Army Signal Corps expanded their assets and called it an
Aviation Section
1918- It was called the U.S. Army Air Service
1926- Renamed U. S. Army Air Corps
1941 Renamed U. S. Army Air Forces
1947 Remaned U. S. Air Force
