Jan 2, 1925 - Chas. R. Dillard Dead

Chas. R. Dillard of six miles east of Calico Rock died at the Baptist
Hospital in Little Rock on Tuesday morning, Dec 30th, following an
operation. (30 Dec 1924)

He took seriously ill at his home on Saturday the 27th, with ailments
indicating appendicitis, but not withstanding all that was done for him, his
condition showed no improvement. On Monday he was taken to the hospital and
as soon as possible after arrival at Little Rock he was operated upon.,
which disclosed that he was afflicted with an ulcer of the stomach, being
advanced so far as to cause eruption and to penetrate the lining of the
stomach. The operation was apparently successful and the patient had
revived, but eight or ten hours later he suffered a relapse and died only a
short time afterwards.

The remains were received at Creswell Thursday morning and burial took place
at the Palestine Cemetery Thursday afternoon, following funeral services
conducted by Rev. G. W. Speak.

Deceased was 36 years of age and was born and reared in this part of the
county, being a son of Mrs Adalade Dillard, who resides a few miles east of
here. He has been engaged at farming the most of his life, but a few years
ago entered the employ of the Mo. P. Ry, as a brakeman at Cotter, but had
not followed that work of late, having returned to his farm. He was a highly
respected citizen and was esteemed by everyone. His death came as a shock to
the entire community.

Deceased is survived by his mother, wife, seven children, two sisters and
three brothers.

> "Adelaide" Cantrell on May 01, 1884?
