Calico Rock Progress - Jul 25, 1947 - W. R. Smith Dies at Brockwell Sunday

William Rufus Smith, aged 76, well known citizen of Brockwell, died at
his home Sunday morning, after an illness of several weeks. He suffered a
stroke of paralysis several weeks ago. He was a native of Lawrence county,
was a resident of Izard County the greater part of his life.

Surviving are six sons, Thurman B. Smith of Evening Shade, Luther Smith
of Brockwell, Whitfield, James, William and Arthur Smith all of Washington
and four daughters, Mrs Bertha Rogers of Porterville, Mo., Mrs Nannie Belle
Anderson of Diaz, Ark., Miss Anne Smith Brockwell, and Mrs Edney Ray of
Bexar. Also surviving are one sister and four brothers, one of whom is Wiley
F. Smith of Calico Rock.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ at Oxford Tuesday
afternoon by Elder Orbie Robins, and burial was in the Oxford Cemetery under
direction of the Roller Funeral Service.
