I know this isn't the way you were spellin Rhoads but from working on my
Rhoades line in Texas I know it can be spelled several ways. Vera

Calico Rock Progress - Feb 11, 1936 - Involved in Fatal Accident in
California

Ted Rhoades, formerly of near Calico Rock but who has been employed as a
truck driver for a creamery company at Bakersfield, Calif., for the past
several months, was involved in a tragic collision near Delano, Calif.
Wednesday morning of last week when a Ford sedan struck the creamery truck.
The sedan wedged itself under the truck overturning the truck and bending it
double.

William Simmons was killed instantly, and his son Doyle who was driving the
sedan, died a short time after being removed t a hospital. Another son,
William, Jr., died the following day. The three victims lived at McFarland,
Calif.

Rhoades had stopped the truck at the intersection and seeing nothing
approaching from any direction was almost across then he felt the crash. He
received minor cuts, bruises and several shock. The accident was caused it
is said by the driver of the sedan not seeing the truck, as he was facing
the sun and it is said there was ample room to pass the truck.
