Calico Rock Progress - July 23, 1920 - Aged Citizen Dies Near Iuka

"Uncle Jesse" Thrasher, one of the oldest citizens of this county, died at
his home near Iuka last Thursday morning, after a brief illness. He had been
ill for only a few days and was thought to be recovering. On Thursday
morning as he had started to eat his breakfast, which was brought to him, he
fell over dead.

Mr Thrasher was 69 years of age and has spent the greater part of his life
in this county. He was one of the community's most highly esteemed citizens,
being a Christian of the highest type and one in whom his neighbors placed
their entire confidence. He was the father of several children, who survive.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. R. Robertson of Mount Olive,
after which the Masons took charge of the remains and made interment with
Mason honors. Burial took place at the Wayland Arbor Cemetery.
