I thought I sent the 1880 census for Malinda but I just checked and it looks
like it might not have gone through. It not I'll send the info again.
Just a question IS it possible this Oliver could be Thomas's brother
????????? Look at the name of the mother and the date 1871.
1880
Oliver SMITH Malinda SMITH Blackwater, Saline, MO <1871> Missouri Son
The Oliver Smith buried in Burnt School House cemetery in the area where
your Thomas J. Smith lived has these dates.
b. 16 Oct 1871 d. 10 Sep 1920
He died in a Newport hospital from wounds he got when he was shot in the
head.
His obituary does not mention family members other than to say his brother
visited him.
He was shot by Joe Martin near Buffalo. After Joe got out of the pen,
Oliver's son shot Joe.
I couldn't find Oliver in the Baxter or Marion County 1900 census.
