Hi Beth,
Thanks for the 1870 census for James McCarty and family. This family
was not included in our census index. We browsed through the census and
found it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. You may be right
about this family. We can't seem to find them in 1880 census, so wonder
what happened to them?
All the McCarty's in Healing Springs, Independence Co. 1870 census are
related to G.B. (Green Berry) McCarty. The only one in the Independence
Co. Census, that we can't place, is Ruth A McCarty 9 yrs old. She is
living in the Thomas R. Davis household, whose wife Elizabeth is a
daughter of William Wilson McCarty. William Wilson McCarty is the
brother of G.B. McCarty. Ruth A. would not have been born in 1860.
G.B. died in 1862. So there is a small window in which Ruth A. could be
another child of G.B. and Mary McCarty.
Thanks,
Jim and Wanda
