I'm also related to the Bray family. My gggrandfather, William Franklin
RADER married Permelia Caldonia BRAY in 1850's in Desoto Co, MS. But the

Calico Rock Progress
Apr 26, 1935 - Pioneer Citizen Dies Here at Age of 88
"Uncle George Bray, aged 88, one of the vicinity's oldest and most
highly respected citizens, passed away at his home her late last Monday
afternoon, April 22, after a brief illness from pneumonia. He became ill
Saturday and grew steadily worse until death.
"Uncle George" was one of the pioneer citizens of this county
practically all of his life having been spent in the vicinity of Wideman. He
was born in north Mississippi. A year or so after the close of the Civil War
he moved with his mother to the Wideman community, where he experienced the
hardships common throughout the country during those trying times. By sheer
perseverance and hard work he acquired a desirable farm and home site which
was to be his home for many years to come. During his more active years his
thrift and energy proved him to be one of the most resourceful farmers of
that section. After many years spent on the farm and having reached infirm
years, he moved to Calico Rock about four years ago.
"Uncle George" was a true type of honest and rugged citizenship;
who adhered strictly to the golden rule. He commanded the love and esteem of
all who were privileged to know him.
Deceased was the father of eighteen children by four marriages, his
last wife and thirteen children, besides a large number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren surviving. The surviving children are: George and Edna
Bray, of Make Peace, Alberta, Canada; William Bray, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs
Clara Reynolds, Puente, Calif.; Mrs Mary Rice, Oroville, Wash.; Mrs Ellen
Pearson, Wideman; Mrs Allie Hammett, Calico Rock, Ark.; Herbert Bray,
Calico, Ark.; Clercy Brockway, Bonner's Ferry, Idaho; Mrs Dora Aylor,
Batesville, Ark.; Mrs Myrtle Langston, Manford, Okla.; Mrs Rena Clark,
Borger, Texas and Lloyd Bray, Calico Rock.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. W. Johnston, pastor of the
Methodist Church, Mtn. View assisted by Rev. F. G. Villines of this place,
were held in the church at Wideman, Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial
was at Wideman cemetery, under Masonic honors, the lodge of Calico Rock
being in charge of services at the grave.
