Jun 6, 1924 - “Uncle Joe” Russell Dead.
“Uncle Joe” Russell, age about 66 years, died at his home one-half mile
east of Creswell, last Saturday afternoon, May 31st. Deceased had been in
declining health for nearly a year and his condition grew quite serious the
past few weeks.
“Uncle Joe” was one of the most highly respected citizens of this
section, highly esteemed by everyone. He came to this county about forty
years ago from Tennessee and located on a farm near Creswell, where he has
since resided. He was a valuable citizen and did much to forward the morals
of his community. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He is survived
by his wife, four sons and two daughters, one of the latter of whom is Mrs
W. J. Seay of Calico Rock. Burial took place at Palestine cemetery Sunday,
funeral services being conducted by Rev. R. S. Hayden of this place.
