Jun 4, 1920 - Memorial Services
Memorial services were held at the Methodist Church last Sunday a.m.
in honor of the soldier dead of this county. A special program was
presented, Jno. L. Bledsoe delivering an appropriate address, followed by
the memorial service by Rev. J. C. Gibbons, both of whom paid fitting
tributes to the country’s heroes. Special musical numbers were also
rendered. Memorial certificates issued to relatives of deceased soldiers by
the State Council of Defense were received for distribution. Mr. and Mrs. J.
Z. Jackson of near here being presented with the certificate in honor of
their son, Morrill B. Jackson, who died in action in France. No other
relatives of deceased soldiers were present.
