Aug 30, 1946 - Car Accident Fatal to Melbourne Woman

Mrs Zada Miller Walker, age 28, daughter G. H. Miller of Melbourne, was killed shortly before midnight Sunday when the car she was driving left the highway east of Forrest City, as she was returning to Memphis after spending the day at Melbourne. With her was a friend and roommate, Miss Ann Edison of Memphis, who accompanied Mrs Miller to Melbourne for a week-end visit.

It is thought that Mrs Walker fell asleep and her car ran off the highway, throwing her from the car and killing her instantly. Miss Edison was not seriously injured.

Mrs Walker was a graduate nurse and had been employed in Memphis several months.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at Melbourne Tuesday afternoon, Rev Hugh Cooper of Melbourne officiating, assisted by Rev S. A. Wiles of Batesville. Interment was in the Gray cemetery, near Sage.

Mrs Walker's husband was killed about a year ago in a railroad accident near their home in Pennsylvania. Her brother, Robert G. Miller, former Clerk of Izard County, lost his life while in action with the U. S. Army in Germany.

Be sides her parents, she is survived by six brothers, Lowell of Batesville, J. C., Charles, and John Eldon of Melbourne, Thomas of Jonesboro and G. H., Jr., of Little Rock and a sister, Mrs Margaret Wamock of Melbourne.

(note: Gray Cemetery, Izard County - Walker, Zada 5 Sep 1917 / 25 Aug 1946)

(If I've got this figured correct her parents were: Annie Margaret (Gray) Miller / Greene Hightower Miller, Sr)
