William Henry Long Dies at Age of 86
William Henry Long, one of this section's oldest and most highly
respected citizens, died at the home of a son at Stella, Tuesday afternoon,
following several months illness.
He came to this county as a child and spent practically all of his life
in the Flat Rock vicinity, where he was engaged in farming , advanced age
forced him to retire. He was a devout Christian, being a member of the
Methodist Church since early in life. He was also a member of the Masonic
Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Calvin Long of Stella, Ark., and Rev Burl
N. Long of Brawley, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs Zelma O'Neal of Portland,
Oregon.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Flat Rock church
by Rev J. H. Richardson of Melbourne, assisted by Rev W. T. Watson of Calico
Rock. Burial was in the Flat Rock cemetery with the Roller Funeral Service
in charge of arrangements.
