I can only imagine how surprised that you were when Rust showed up! My
heart would have skipped a beat! LOL
Yes, William T. "Cherokee Bill" Smith was born in Indian Territory. His
brother; Lewis Smith was, too. That I am aware of - they are the only two
born in the Territories - the rest there in Baxter County. I noticed that
his census record there at the hopsital in Baltimore said that his parents
were born in IA? Now, we know that didn't happen. Must have been that
nurse that he was pictured with (that I shared with you a few months ago?)
that answered the census taker's questions?
But, as far as I know - other than Tom Smith supposedly being born in
Missouri - there were none other of the Smiths that were.
But, who knows?
When I found my father's Moore family in 1920, it showed that his sister,
Pauline had been born in Missouri and all the other children in Arkansas.
So, at this point - there is nothing that surprises me.
I thought it interesting, Vera - that Leo Rust's children were all born in
Arkansas?
