Hi all
Is this just not the best? And Roger? How in the heck did you find that
obituary? And fast, brother?
In all these years and last year; Fern finds Lewis Smith for me and Roger
connects and sends Everett my way this year!
Long time comin', I am here to tell you. Many, many, many
years................
I know that last year, Vera sent me an excerpt from a newspaper and it said:
Baxter Bulletin Newspaper dated Apr 30, 1926:
Everett Smith of Guinn died, brother of Lewis Smith.
This was before I had found Bob Hudson - Lewis' grandson - and I just had no
idea about what had happened to Lewis, even.
But, this is my Everett that the excerpt is referencing his death. His
daughter; Katherine Everetta was born the very month that he died, too - it
appears.
The Brooks researcher tells me that Everett died as a result of a farming
accident - involving a tractor. And he was so young.
Wanted to share something with you all and ask your opinion?
In the 1910 census, all the Smiths (minus ole Tom who I think died circa
1904) are accounted for - except for Everett.
They are all scattered, really - but can't seem to locate Everett AND in the
1910 census - his widowed mother; Nancy Sinor Smith says that she has had 8
children and 7 are living.
Well.................
(1) Dollie is in a Little Rock census, (2) Sherman is near Nancy Sinor Smith
and with my grandmother; newly married, (3) Lewis is living with a Fields
family in Union Township, Baxter Co., not yet married (4) William is at
home, not yet married to Mae Cockrum, (5) Maud is home, not yet married to
Perry Tipton, (6) Monroe is listed at home in 1910 and is (7) the youngest,
Joe is at home, still - not yet into the mischief that he was famous for.
Everett is the eighth child and why in the world would he be enumerated as
having been deceased in 1910? He would have only been seven years old or
so?
I pulled up this 1910 census image for the Nancy Sinor Smith household in
Hixon, Stone Co. and sure enough - no Everett and 8 children born to Nancy
and 7 living in May 1910.
Any suggestions?
