Janis,
There must have been two John Copelands about the same age. I think I have seen two in the census records when I have looked to see who John's parents were. I talked to one of their grandsons (Doyle Copeland, son of Cleve and Jennie Thompson Copeland )over the week-end and he is supposed to send me
information.

I don't know for sure when they left Arkansas, but they moved to McAlester OK and lived there the rest of their lives. Doyle gave me Nancy's date of death as August 13, 1959. He couldn't remember when John died. He thought his great-grandfather was also John Wesley Copeland, but could not remember his
great-grandmother's name.

There is a John W. Copeland, wife Margaret S. and son William H. in Independence Co in 1870. Same family, I think, in 1880 in Stone County.
