Joshua Ross was born December 17, 1802 in Tennessee and died May 25, 1875 in
Arkansas. His first marriage was to Jane(?) about 1823 in Tennessee. Jane
was born March 30, 1806 in Tennessee and died March 1840 in Ar.
Joshua was listed in the 1830 Census in Weakley County, Tennessee with his
wife and 2 boys, 2 girls.
He and his family moved to Arkansas Territory about 1833-34 and settled on
the Strawberry River. He was listed in 1840 Census in Lawrence County, Ar.
with 4 boys and 5 girls, with no wife, Jane having died March 1840.
Joshuas second marriage was to Catharine Jackson, who was born June 16, 1822
in Tennessee. They had 1 boy and 1 girl. Catharine died October 15, 1846 in
Ar.
Joshuas third marriage was to Matilda (Williams) Byrd, who was born 25,
March 1820 in Kentucky.. They had 2 boys and 5 girls.Matilda died May 25,
1905 in Ar. This family was listed in Izard County ,Ar in the 1860 and 1870
Census.
Joshus and Matilda are both buried in Smith Chapel Cemetery, Wild Cherry,
Fulton County, Ar.
