Bettie Smith was the daughter of Judge Thomas Ashley and his wife
Elizabeth, as follows:

1. THOMAS JEFFERSON ASHLEY, JUDGE was born 22 April 1849 in KY, and died 16
April 1929 in Izard County AR (Violet Hill Cemetery). He married MARTHA
"MATTIE" ELIZABETH CARTER. She was born 11 March 1857 in TN, and died 6
September 1924 in Izard County AR (Violet Hill Cemetery).



Child of THOMAS ASHLEY and MARTHA CARTER is:

2. i. NETTIE ELIZABETH "BETTIE" ASHLEY, b. 10 August 1876; d.
22 October 1969, Izard County AR (Violet Hill Cemetery).

2. NETTIE ELIZABETH "BETTIE" ASHLEY (THOMAS JEFFERSON ) was born 10 August
1876, and died 22 October 1969 in Izard County AR (Violet Hill Cemetery).
She married JEFFERSON DAVIS SMITH 29 January 1893, son of SAMUEL SMITH and
JANE WALKER. He was born 25 December 1867, and died 31 December 1947 in
Izard County AR (Violet Hill Cemetery).



Children of NETTIE ASHLEY and JEFFERSON SMITH are:

i. CECIL C. SMITH.

ii. MILDRED MAE "MILLIE" SMITH, b. 26 November 1899; m. BUELL
BILLINGSLEY; b. 30 September 1892; d. 22 June 1970, Izard County AR (Violet
Hill Cemetery).

iii. OPAL SMITH, b. 15 May 1904.
