Boy Bernie,
You sure opened up a can of worms on this one.... <g>.
Do you have anything else on that Hiram Casey - father of Levi.
For some reason I decided to start hunting for Levi's family. Don't ask me
why..... but....
In working on that you won't believe what I found. Now... stay with me on
this one... it is a bit convoluted.... <giggle>.
First let's go back to the Hightowers.
Thomas Hightower and Jane had these children:
Mary Jane who married Joshua Hightower
John who married a Rachel Foster - a rosanna Leeper - a Cynthia Collier
Elizabeth who married James Wren
Joshua who married Martha Watkins
Charity who married Thales Morrison and then marrried William B. Karr
William who married Martha Downey
All of those children ended up in Arkansas except one - John Hightower who md
Rachel and Rosanna and Cynthia
Ok... next step:
John Hightower ended up in Illinois. He and his 1st wife Rachel Foster had 7
children that we know of so far. Their 1st child was Dorinda Hightower - b.
abt 1815 in Kentucky.
That Dorinda Hightower md Hiram Casey on 26 July 1836 in Johnson Co.,
Illinois.
Take a look at these census records:
1860 - Vienna, Johnson Co., Illi - pg. 100A - 800/885
H. Casey - 46 - farmer - Ill
Dorinda - 45 - Ky
Julia - 16 - Ill
Susan - 12 - Ill
Levi - 10 - Ill
Wm. T. - 8 - Ill
Rachael - 5 - Ill
1870 - Vienna, Johnson Co., Ill - pg. 437B - 74/74
Marinda Casey - 55 - keeping house - Ky
Julia - 24 - Ill
Susan - 22 - Ill
Levi - 10 - Ill
William - 16 - Ill
Rachel - 14 - Ill
You don't suppose do you that this Levi is the right Levi Casey. The age
doesn't quite match with what you found in 1880 and neither does the state of
birth but have seen so much messed up in census records that I wonder.
Anyway... do you know anything else agout that Hiram Casey????
Mary Cox -- what do you think????
Interesting isn't it...... ???????

Now, this is interesting, and Emma probably knows the
answer...............but, next door to that McCarty household is this one:
1860 Fulton Co., Arkansas census, Big Spring Township:
CASEY, Levi 23 farmer TN
#393/33 Sarah 16 AR
Timothy 1 AR
LAWS, William P. 24 farm laborer --/280 TN
26 June 1860 Fulton Co., Arkansas census, Big Spring Township, Gordon Ferry
Post Office:
MCCARTY, John W. 26 M farmer 650/440 MO
#394/54 Elizabeth 27 F IN
Imail (?) 9 M AR
Levi's father is a Hiram Casey, a reverend - so, think that Ambler and Levi
were first cousins?
