Harold,
Yes, you really have to watch all those sites of Ancestry/Rootsweb etc. when it comes to the Reeves. They use the same names so much that it's hard to keep them straight at all.
One site had Burgess mother being 66 years old at his birth. The ladies name was Margaret Burgess and was our Burgess Reeves grandmother, not his mother. The mistake was honest. Both the father's and grandfather's name was William.
Above everything else, the birthdays have to match.
Burgess lists the following for his age on the S. Carolina census for 1790, 1800 and 1810:
1790: marked as white male over 16 years of age
1800: marked as white male between 26 and 45 years of age.
1810: marked as white male between 26 and 45 years of age.
1811: Burgess dies.

Thanks, now I see where they tie in, guess I just missed it before. That
site
is a bit confusing to me, since they list the youngest first and go
backwards,
it is hard to follow a particular line with a chart like that. I found
Burgess on
Ancestry.com but some listed him as born in 1746 and some in 1726. The
1726 date would have made him 64 when William was born about 1790 and
his wife about the same age, a bit old for bearing children. Some of these
old genealogies show sons being born 10 years after their father's death,
so some folks don't do the math before they publish these things......HRB

didn't find anymore Ballance info either. I looked mostly at tax records
and census forms. As few people as there were early on in West Tennessee
and as unusual as the name Ballance seems to be, I'd bet that they are at
least related. You're right, they're probably sisters.

will make more sense.
