Bud...Could this is two different women, Mrs A.J. Hanks and Eliza who
married first Millard Hanks , ran off and he divorced her in April , `1891,
and she remarried Grant in May of the same year...Do you think that Grant
was married before he married Eliza???

But again, if Eliza gave the name Mrs. A.J. Hanks, and married Grant, before
she ahd Millard were divorced...?If Millard and Eliza lived together 3
years, then after Lettie was born in 1884, She could have ran off and
married Grant in 1888..It was in a different county..
Since Millard charged her with desertion...maybe she did... and then
remarried Grant as soon as the divorce was final...

This Mrs. A.J. Hanks could be the widow of Andrew J. Hanks, a brother of
Millard , Lewis and Roland Hanks. But with the facts as we see them, it
seems more likely that she married Grant twice...Do you think???
