Subject: Re: [ARIZARD-L] Molasses making

Since everyone else remembers molasses making, I may as well put in my
two cents worth. I remember hauling cane to two different places with my
Dad,
one was at the little community of "Stella", about halfway between Sage and
Mt. Pleasant. The other was down on the Guion road, between Sage and Gid.
This one was near the old Andy Warnett place, (some of you may remember
the big ole bull Andy would bring to the county fair at Melbourne every
year).
And the thing I remember about the "skimmings" was that they were about
the stickiest substance on earth, if you stepped in some it was worse than
chewing gum to get off your shoes. And during the war when sugar was
rationed, we used to sweeten our coffee with either molasses or honey.
