Bernie,
As far as I know there is only one Wheat Family here in Mountain Home. Not sure about their line. He was Henry Wheat and had three sons. One of the sons, Max Wheat, was a very close friend of mine, and died the past summer with cancer. His mother still lives here in Mountain Home.

Subject: [ARIZARD-L] Wheat, Maynard, Perry and Smith?
Hi all
Well, after exchanging emails with a Cockrum descendant, she just casually said that her grandmother was a Wheat from the Baxter Co. area. Well,................it seems that my Tom Smith had a sister named Melvina Smith that married a W. S. Wheat.
Note: Tom Smith's son; Bill Smith had married into this researcher's Cockrum family. Okay?
So, it sounds to me like there was some serious connections going on here. I know that I have not seen any Wheat researchers on the List, but do know that Peggy is a Perry researcher, right?
Descendants of ? Wheat

........ 2 Josiah "Joe" Wheat
............ +? Perry
This Sam Maynard was supposedly a traveling preacher. Never married to Elisabeth Alice Cockrum - and may have fathered other children? Anyone know anything about the Maynards? I'm really coming up with some doozies here folks. Sorry that my family and their connections and intermarriages are not more, shall we say........simple or above board? LOL
Anyway, not much on my Melvina's marriage:
Descendants of W. S. Wheat
1 W. S. Wheat b: 1866
. +Melvina Smith b: 1869 in Arkansas m: September 02, 1887 in Baxter Co., Arkansas (I think a sister to my Tom Smith.)
Anything look familiar, folks?
