There are several articles on the death of
W. E. A. Copp in the Calico Rock Progress

Dec 15, 1922 - Aged Citizen Passes Away
-- W. E. A. Copp Called by Death Last Wednesday Night
-- Mr W. E. A. Copp, one of Calico Rock's oldest and best known citizens,
passed away at his home in East Calico Rock last Wednesday night at 8 O'
clock, after an illness of several days from infirmities of old age. He
appeared in comparatively good health until two or three weeks ago, but
after becoming confined to his bed never rallied sufficiently to be out
again.
--Mr Copp was about 69 years of age, and was a pioneer resident of this
section, having lived in this county since he was a young man, and had been
a resident of Calico Rock for seven or eight years. "Uncle Armstrong", as he
was more intimately known to a large circle of close friends, bore a most
favorable acquaintance and relationship with all who knew him, he being of
an unusually good-natured spirit and had naught but the kindliest greetings
for all with whom he came in contact. He was one of the best citizens of the
community, and was esteemed by all, alike. A more extended account of the
life of the deceased will appear in these columns next week.
-- Deceased is survived by two sons and two daughters, who are: W. J. Copp,
J. E. Copp and Mrs Julia Wyatt, all of Calico Rock and Mrs J. B. Croom of
Henryetta, Okla.
-- Burial is to take place at the Knob Creek Cemetery a few miles east of
here, today, funeral services to be conducted by Rev. L. E. Conkin.

Dec 15, 1922 - Town and County News
-- Mrs J. B. Croom arrived the first of the week from Henryetta, Okla.,

Dec 22, 1922 - W. E. A. Copp
--The funeral of Mr W. E. A. Copp, one of Izard County's oldest and most
highly respected citizens, who died at his home in East Calico Rock
Wednesday, December 13th was held at the Knob Creek cemetery last Friday

L. E. Conkin.
-- Deceased was born in Westmoreland County, Ga., Feb 5, 1858, coming to
Arkansas with his parent when a child, settling at the present location of
Harrisburg, Poinsett County. At the age of eight years he came to this
county and located in the vicinity of Newburg. In 1873 he was married to
Miss Annie McGuire, to which union was born five children, one of which died
in infancy. Two sons and two daughters survive, they being W. J. Copp, Mrs
J. B. Croom, Mrs Julia Wyatt and J. E Copp. The mother passed to her reward

-- Mr Copp continued to reside on his farm near Newburg until five or six
years. when he moved to Calico Rock. Practically all his life was spent as a
farmer and he was known as one of the most energetic and successful ones of
the county. He was known by everyone as a true and tried friend and neighbor
at all times, kind, hospitable and ever ready to lend aid to the needy or
any cause that was for the betterment of his community. He has all his life
been a man of exemplary habits, having lived a Christian life since 1881,
when he united with the M. E. Church at Knob Creek. He was of a kind
disposition, cheerful at all times, and met all alike with his unusually
friendly spirit, which made for him many friends, all of whom tender
condolence and sympathy to the bereaved and who miss him from the daily
walks of life.
-- Owing to his advanced age, Mr Copp gave up his active pursuits as a
farmer and stockman upon moving to calico Rock.

Dec 22, 1922 - Card of Thanks
-- We wish to express our heart-felt thinks and appreciation to our many

always.
