You might want these records on John W. Gann and his wife Mourning Franks. They were the parents of Cynthia Gann, wife of Oliver Franks. The unidentified daughter was born about 1825.

1840 Itawamba County, Mississippi Census: John Gann

John W. Gann died before the 1850 census, probably after the
family had moved to Desoto Co, MS.

1850 Desoto Co, MS Census: Mourning Gann 45 TN, Jesse 18 AL, Rachel 16 AL,
John 14 AL, James 12 AL, Joshua 12 MS, Martha 8 MS. William Gann (24 TN)
and Samuel Gann (28 TN) were also living in Desoto Co 1850 in their own
households.

1860 Desoto Co, MS Census: Mourning Gann 50 TN, J.D. (m) 21 MS, M.E. (f) 18
MS, J.B. Tinkle (m) 24 TN ... William Gann (35 TN), Jesse C. Gann 28 AL,
James Gann 23 AL, John Gann 23 AL also living in Desoto Co 1860 in their own
households. Sarah Gann 39 AL, wid of Samuel was also in her own house.

1870 Census. Mourning Gann is not found in the census. She would be about
65-70. John Gann (35 AL), James Gann (34 AL), M.A. Gann (35 GA ?), William
Gann (46 AL) and West Gann (30 MS) living in Tate County, which I assume was
divided from Desoto County. All but M.A. Gann are sons of Mourning Franks
Gann.

Mourning Franks and John W. Gann's children:
1. Samuel B. 1820-1822 TN, D: 1850's Desoto, MS, M:Sarah
C. Rader ca 1844.
2. Cynthia B: Oct 1822 TN, D: 1900's TX or OK, M: Oliver

James S. Frank was married in Maury Co., Tenn., 15 Sep 1842 to Sarah F. "Sallie" Emerson, daughter of John and Catherine "Kit" Reynolds Emerson. James and Sarah had two sons, Aaron B. Frank b. ca 1844 in Lawrence Co., Tn. and John E. Frank born ca 1845 in Tn. We have found no divorce record for James and Sarah but in 1850 she is listed on the Giles Co., Tn census with her parents. Her son, John is age 5 and living with her. James S. Frank and Matilda_____ are listed on the 1850 census for Butler Co., Mo. and Aaron B. Frank, the son of James S. and Sarah Frank is with them.

I agree that it is interesting that Mar lived next to the Oliver Franks family in Izard Co. I wish I had some idea what "Mar" Matilda's maiden name was. We haven't located a marriage record for her yet. Some census records list her as born in Ala. and others in Tn. I have searched for any records on Oliver and Cynthia that I could find, hoping to make a connection. I feel sure that at least one relative of theirs moved to Arkansas but have not found anything.

From what I have found, I don't believe James and Oliver were brothers but feel there might be some connection to Oliver or his wife possibly through Matilda. Any help will be appreciated.
