Hi Peggy,
Thank for this information. I was wanting to check her birthplace.
We think she is a sister to Samuel Adophert Morton. She is listed with Ann
Morton, as head of family, in the 1860 Izard Co. Census, (which includes
Samuel, his Mother and other brother and sisters,) as Betty Morton 22 b. ILL
school teacher.
An ancestor of hers said she was "Betty" Rebecca Elizabeth Morton. If she
is a sister to Samuel her parents would be Samuel and Mary Amily (Smith?)
Morton both born in MD. Samuel and Mary had another daughter listed with
them in the 1850 KY census Mary A. b. in MO. She married a May and never
came to AR.
