HORTON
Note: The following family came from Tennessee.
Robert and Taylor Horton and their families, the sons of Isaac Horton, who
came to Searcy County from Tennessee before the Civil War, settled in this
county in about 1878.
Robert Horton married Rachael Cypert, the daughter of James W. and Jane Henry
Cypert, who was born in Missouri while the family was on the way to Arkansas
from their old home in Tennessee.
Rachel died in 1874, leaving three children, Mary, James, and Eugene.
The family was Baptist.
Robert then married Missie Louper and to this union were born four children.
He died in 1884. The children were raised by relatives.

Eugene, a prominent teacher of the county, was raised by his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. James W. Cypert, who came to the county in 1878, and settled on
the Billy Green place two miles east of Gassville.
They later moved to the Kemp place on White River, where the town of Cotter
now stands, and Mr. Cypert operated a store and a ferry across White River.
He also was a schoolteacher.
Taylor Horton married Martha Jane Cypert in 1873 and they settled near
Gassville and became prosperous farmers. Their children were E. C. Horton,
Estel Horton, and Mrs. Jesse Johnson.

(Continues with history of Zeph M. HORTON and family and distinguishes they
are different by beginning with saying "The following family came from North
Carolina."
