Hey, y'all...

I have to put my two cents in again. I don't have AOL, never used AOL on ancestry, and I had the same problems that y'all are having. They offered the Ark marriages for free...and I couldn't search them...they came up with no hits. I already canceled my membership and got a refund, but it really aggravates me that they are getting away with charging for something they are not consistently providing. Is there nothing we can do, I mean, except just not use their service? Sorry...just had to vent a little...

Dear Juanita,

Thank you for your e-mail.

If you are currently a member of America Online or Compuserve and are
experiencing difficulties with the Ancestry.com Web site, please do the
following:

1. Minimize, not close, the AOL / Compuserve browser.

2. The minimize button is found in the upper right hand corner of the
browser. It is the
Third button from the right and has an underline. If you place your
mouse pointer over the button a small message will appear saying,
"minimize." Press this button.

3. Open a "Recommended Browser" from the list below. If you are not
using one of the suggested browsers download a new one or upgrade the
one you are currently using.

Recommended Browsers

To provide the best service it is very important that our members use
the most current Web browser available. A copy of a free Web browser
can be downloaded from the links below:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/ie55.htm

Netscape Navigator 4.7
http://www.netscape.com/try/download/index.html

4. Once the browser has been downloaded and installed, open it from your

Windows 95/98 "Program(s)" menu.

5. Login to Ancestry.com, www.ancestry.com

*EXTREMELY IMPORTANT*

Performing a "Windows Update" on your computer will improve the
performance of the AOL / Compuserve browser.

Windows 98 users can begin a "Windows Update" by clicking on the "Start"
button, selecting "Settings" and choosing, "Windows Update." Or go to
the following address: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Please
contact Microsoft if you have any questions or need help doing this.

If you need assistance switching your browser send an e-mail to
, or call 1-801-431-5220.

Best Regards,

Jon
