Hi girls

I have asked the head Blankenship researchers and that's Newt and Jean about
this family that I am a bit confused on and right now, Jean's computer is on
the blink and she can't access her records.

Are you sure that there are in fact two different men here? An Elisha and an
Elijah? I'll bet that it's the same man and records are reflecting different
spelling versions of the given name. I checked my records and I have no
census records of the family. They were in Blount Co. (I think.....) in 1850
and Elisha and Elizabeth Jane, the parents......are deceased by the 1860
census. Seems like I had seen that they may have been in Izard Co. by 1850
(per children's births), but I saw no record of them on the site that is
online.

ALTHOUGH......my maternal ggggrandfather; Elisha Smothers (1800-1881) aka The
Old Goat......from Baxter Co. had two sons.....Elijah M. and Elisha A. and as
far as I can tell, they were indeed two different families.

But, back to Blankenships.

This is Al Blankenship's line. He is the gentleman that we would need to
talk with, but unfortunately, Al just lost his wife; Bennie after a long
battle with cancer and I just don't think that genealogy questions is what he
needs at the moment. I really think that it is his data that I was referring
to Linda, from off List discussion, the other evening. Remember? I had a
chart and no reference? Story of my life. He is the gentleman that I think
that had that Elijah's brother; Benjamin T. was also married to Sarah
Goodrich, also. It could be that Benjamin did die in the Civil War and that
Elijah, the scoundrel...... married his brother's widow. Wish we knew some
Goodrich researchers. Another mystery for us right now.

At any rate, my position is that Elijah and Elisha are one and the same
gentleman......MAYBE. LOL

The criminal records that we were discussing last night, Linda? There was an
Elisha in those records, wasn't there?

Let me look......here they are for Willa and Delpha's benefit:

When I saw this James Blankenship......I wondered if it was my ggrandfather;
James Calvin Blankinship (1858-1904)? As religiously inclined as his
daughter (and my grandmother); Nancy Emma Blankinship (1892-1974) was......I
wouldn't put it past them. And trust me.....she knew her scriptures!

Willa, what do you think? Are you there, sister? Are we overwhelming you?
Linda and I sent you enough data to mull around with for several years, I am
sure. I think that I can speak for Linda in saying that neither one of us
would know our Nose from Adam, if it were not for Jean and Newt Blankenship
and their research before us. When time permits, you should contact them.
You'd like them.

Bernie
