Not that I know anything about Soundex....I think some census records were
converted in the 1930s to cards for each family(?) in the census
record...then the sounds or phonics of the names was converted to an
alpha-numeric code. It is possible to obtain code-specific micro-film. (I
mentioned about a month ago that I was waiting on a couple of reels of
soundex microfilm that I had ordered. Well, I am still waiting.)
Here is a site where you can convert any name to soundex code
Or you can learn more here...<http://www.firstct.com/fv/soundex.html>
Or you can purchase film etc. from where I ordered mine (if you think you
can live long enough...sure seems slow but they do say on ordering soundex
records, it takes 6-8 weeks...<http://www.heritagequest.com/index.html>
Hope this helps. Will let you know-more when I get my order. Mike C.
