Evalyn,
We all share in the joy when someone finds a part of their family heritage.
And I know that I, for one, enjoyed your "rambling".........and yes, you
HAVE been quiet which is unlike you. <b>

Subject: [ARIZARD-L] Melton Bonanza! (I'm rambling, again!)
Hi List,
I've been rather "quiet" the past few days....so UNLIKE me! <g>
Having trouble AGAIN with POP forwarding so if I want to send I have
to use Yahoo mail and it is rather limited in the manipulation of my
messages.
But...it HAS given me a lot of time to FIND my ancestors. As some of
you know, I've spent quite a bit of time recently in Henderson
Kentucky taking care of my Dad's estate after he was killed in a
tractor accident.
I KNEW that my g-g-g-grandfather Reubern "Buck" Melton had moved to
Indiana and I also knew (at least, suspected) that some of his
children lived in Kentucky. They are only separated by the Ohio River
between Henderson KY and Evansville IN.
Well, bingo, just TODAY I found 2 of Reuben's children (siblings of
MY Joseph Melton, father of Nathan Hamby Melton). I found wills,
census, marriages...a LOT of information. I'm on cloud nine! I also
found one of Reuben's siblings, Jesse E. Melton. Can't wait to search
at the old courthouse. (My brother, Tadd, painted the old courthouse
when he was a teenager and we were living there..must take a picture
of it!)
Seems like I have done just as my ancestor did...followed my
relatives all over the country. From IL to AR to KY...I wouldn't be
surprised if some of them moved to Texas and Florida too! <grin>
Will post what I've found when I put it together! Sorry to
ramble...guess I have missed posting!!
Evalyn
