I just tried last night to send a GEDCOM file to Sue Hearon on this list,
and she could not open it. She has 7.0. I closed my FTM down, double
clicked on the gedcom that I had saved, and it opened up my FTM just fine.
What he sent to me appeared to be a file. I have sent a copy of my GEDCOM
to him, but haven't heard.
When I called CS at FTM, they said that I was right, that the two were not
compatible. Maybe I didn't communicate very well, who knows?
I was surprised about the idea that they would exclude FTM versions between
each other. Especially since that's the general way a lot of folks swap
info. Seems like it would black-ball them.
Maybe I will try saving what he sent as a GEDCOM and see what
happens. Will let you know.
