With FTM cds, you go to the "Search" section first, and type in the surname
you are looking for. For instance SMITH. Once it has looked up all SMITHS
on the cd, then you go to Edit, and from the drop-down menu select either
"select entry" (which will select only the one you are on) or "select
matching entries", which will select every SMITH on the cd (and will take
awhile). Then, you go back to Edit and from the drop down menu select
"copy selected items". Then, go to a blank e-mail or to Word or WordPad or
something similar and on your keyboard, hold "control" and "v" down
together. That will paste all the names that you want.

If I am only wanting SMITHS in Washington County, TN, then I go to Contents
on the right side of the page, and go to the state I want, then scroll down
the counties until I find Washington County, then double click and up will
come Washington County with the SMITHS marked (not selected with a check
mark), and I will then manually go to edit and hit select enty until I have
clicked on all the ones I want. A slower process, but saves having to
search through the thousands of SMITHS you would get if you selected all
matching entries!
