Subject: Re: [ARIZARD-L] Thanks For All Your Prayers
Hi everyone,
This message is for all, but especially Evalyn, Jean, Mary, and those of you
who have recently lost a loved one. A few months ago we had 3 deaths in our
family within a month. And then about a month ago I lost one of my best
genealogy "cousins" and friends - Dorothy. My daughter (who is not
interested in genealogy at all) and I were talking about Dorothy and how
much
I would miss her and she said an interesting thing.
She said - I have watched you for years and one of the things you do when
someone passes away is to go to your information and enter that information
in your database. And then you sit for a few minutes and look at their
information. It seems to be part of the way you deal with grieving for
them.
That seems to comfort you in some way. It is like a ritual that you do.
And she is right.. that is exactly what I do. And in a way we genealogists
have something special. Although we miss our folks so very much we have a
special connection to them and others in our families through our searching
and gathering. We know we are connected and we know that we will be
connected forever and we understand that far more than folks who are not
involved in genealogy. It is a way we can honor them and it is a way we can
remember them all rolled up into one.
I wish the best for all of you - take care - Emma
