asleep (it was late and you know me, when it gets late what gray matter I
have turns to mush!)

Yes, Elvada is correct. Miles was the son of Jehoida and Mary (Ware/Weir)
Jeffery so Ambrose (son of Miles/Sarah Williams) was great-grandson of James
& Jane (Mason) Jeffery.....have I got that right, Elvada?

It is early and I am still a little muddled but isn't Miles the son of
Jehoiada and Mary "Polly" Ware.

I had been going over some data that Sharron had sent me regarding her Hays
ancestry and when I got to India and Ambrose......I was a little puzzled
over
the data that I already had for them, which was what I posted.

When I first joined the List, you ladies were posting the Ambrose Letters
and
I think that I picked up a great deal of the information that I do have on
this family from all those exchanges. I really didn't have a clue as to
where I had gotten Henry Hays and Bertha Virginia as children of India and
Ambrose and then thought........check the notes to file on this couple.

So.......sure enough, this is what I had:

Per Elvada Russell Walker ():
The description of Ambrose I have at age 26 is he was 6 feet tall, 175
pounds, light hair, hazel eyes, an old battle wound on his rightknee, and
of
lean muscular build. This I took from the story of Dream Tough by Dale
Hanks.
The description of Jane Mason Jeffery is from someone who has seen her
clothes that were found in an old trunk about 40 years ago. So very sad is
the fact that the clothes and shoes were lost to fire. Jane Mason
Jeffery(Ambrose's mother) was about 89 pounds and wore a tiny shoe. The
dress
was of a calico type of material and the boot type shoes were leather. This
is the epilogue from "Dream Tough". Ambrose Jeffery was the elder son of
Miles and Sarah Williams Jeffery. He was born at Mt. Olive, Arkansas on July
23, 1837. He was a farmer and businessman. In latter years, he was
liscened
to practice law, and was a well-known attorney at Mtn View, Arkansas. His
and India's house stood just north of Livingston Creek, and close by the
right bank of the White River on what is now the Stone County side. They had
twelve children: Fannie, Laura Emmett, William Edwin, Edwin William, Bertha
Virginia, Owen Hunt, Clarence , Herman, Attie, Finis, Henry Hays, and Irene.
Indiana (India) died March 4, 1898. Ambrose died on her birthday, two years
later, September 13, 1900.

You are going to die laughing at the next one.......You mention that I had a
"F" fo rher middle intial? Well, guess where I got that "F?" From the 1880
census record and the "Female" that followed her name.

To say the least, I have omitted the "F" from her name.

Sometimes I can scare even myself........I get so scatter brained!

What do you think, Rosemary? Anyone else know anything about Bertha and
Henry Hays?
