My interest in MONTGOMERY is that my gr-gr-grandfather, William Alexander
RIDGWAY, married Ann MORRIS, widow of Joseph MONTGOMERY. He refers to her
visiting her children in Izard County in his narrative, and that's where she
died while visiting them.
In 1870 census for Fulton County, Pleasant Ridge Township, Franklin Post
Office:
Page 111, Dwg. 1, Fam. 3
MONTGOMERY
James 38, male, white Farmer, Value $1,000/$800 b. NC
Mathena 22, female, white Housekeeper b. AR
William P., 7/12, male, white b. AR
Dwg. 2, Fam. 7
MONTGOMERY
Joseph 47, male, white Farmer Value $1,000/$800 b. NC
Ann 40, female, white Housekeeper b. TN
Martha 17, female, white b. AR
John 14, male, white b.
AR
Thomas 8, male, white b. AR
Joseph 6, male, white b.
AR
Monroe 1, male, white b.
AR
(Copied this in 1980)
Also enumerated: MONTGOMERY, Joseph 51, b. NC
MONTGOMERY, Samuel 46, b. NC
MORRISS, W. L. 47, b. TN (with wife & 8 children)
Ann MONTGOMERY's maiden name was MORRIS. She had a brother, Riley MORRIS,
that they went to see in Texas, and he mentions him dying while just Ann
visited him.
My mother had told me that "Sis" Avey, wife of John Avey at Lone Rock in
Baxter County, was a MORRIS.
Let me know if this connects to the Joseph MONTGOMERY you are seeking. If
so, I believe I have Ann's date of death and can copy some of his narrative
about her.
