Jean & All,
Thanks for your kindness. Wife, Sandy, is the daughter of the former Myrtle
Rose, who was the daughter of Joseph Rose and Mittie Ann (Byler) Rose. We
were there about a couple or three years ago to visit Lunenburg to search
for some relative's graves. We drove on down past the cemetary and the
school a little ways. We came upon this lady crossing the road with a number
of dogs at her feet, and one in her arms. A barn right on the road and the
house across. I stopped and asked her if she had time to talk." Well I guess
time is about all I got, and I don't know how much of that I got" said she.
We identified ourselves and asked if she remembered the Rose family. " Sure,
they lived right over younder on that mountain, but you kaint get across the
krick anymore". The little dog she was holding was a cha wa wa and could
sing. She had to help it get started, but they made a nice duet. Seems that
folks bring their dogs out there to the end of the road and drop them off on
her. She spoke of her shotgun and 'their backsides' if she caught any more
doing this. What a delightful person! All that to say this,are any of you
residents of that area , and what of Mrs. Banning ( I think was her name).
We think of her often. Our #1 daughter if Suzi Shoemake of this list. It's
so nice to feel like we know you at once. God Bless!
