Subject: [ARIZARD-L] Records prior to 1914

Since the Izard Co. court house burned down and "all records" were
destroyed, how does one research our lines? (between 1840 to 1910).
Would one assume Obits and other info would have been printed in local
news papers? and if so, does anyone know of any news papers that were in
print at that time, and where one might search to find relatives? We
have checked with the Izard County Court House, and was told that no
info is available. We were referred to the State and the Historical
Society. These people told us their records do not begin until 1914.
Can anyone help?
