I am the Bookout who listens in on this wonderful list.

I "think" Henry M. Bookout, who was married to the Eliza Bookout of the
Roberts Cemetery is my 2gr-grandfather, but I have no documentation. It is
my hunch that they are the parents of gr-grandfather Jacob Alexander Bookout
born approx 1848. He would have been a brother to your William Waters
Bookout. I've never found J.A. Bookout on a census in Henry's household,
or in Eliza's household for that matter. (She was a widow for many years,
and has many land deeds in Izard/Fulton County on the blm page).

Belva it is nice to meet a cousin. I don't have my stuff here at work and
at home it is all packed away for the Holiday Season when my office turns
into a guest room, but for more Bookout information you can go to the

absolutely the best Surname page on the web. (No bias here.) There is a
huge gedcom there and you will find some additional information about
William Waters and his wife, who I believe was Amanda Langston.

BTW (by the way) do you have any proof that Eliza was a Barnes?

Jean, I'm sure you will also find those other Bookouts you mentioned on this
surname page. They are not the direct Henry/Eliza line, but are related, of
course.

I was quite interested to find that your gr-grandfather was sent to Sam
Cochran. I've been told that the Cochrans and the Bookouts were related,
but I've never found the link. Do you know the connection?
I thought the Cochran's might be related to my Pogue family from Izard and
Stone County. Maybe not. There is a pig story about the Pogues
that Bernie and the other pig mafia fans might enjoy. It involved murder,
a house of ill repute and the disappearance of a public official.
Since it happend in the mid 1940's some people on this list might remember,
or be related to the families involved so I won't go into it here. Just be
sure that my pig story can top your pig story. LOL. Those of you who are
really curious can check this story out in the Batesville newspaper
archives.

See why I don't post often, I can't write a little message, I have to write
a book. Now that I've bored you all with my quest for "proof" or offended
you with the pig story, I must say that I love this list. I want to be a
1st cousin (no removes) to Elvada and Rosemary, live next door to Junebug,
go mapping with LaMyra and be Bernie's evil twin.
