No, I don't. I just happened to be at the library working yesterday when the
transfer was taking place and helped a bit trying to find floor space to
stack all of the boxes in as they came in out of the rain. I have been doing
this work for 18 years now and though I had seen most of the older, more
popular, books at one library or another, but here are many, many volumes I
have never seen before. I hope to get my book ready to publish in August and
was sorry to see it go with so many holes. This gift may be the answer to
some of them. I hope if will bless others as well.
Another interesting event, I don't know if I mentioned before. I went to
Miami, Oklahoma to research the other day. Being so close to Joplin,
Missouri where there is an excellent library, I had not been in any hurry to
visit there as the Globe (Joplin) covered most of the area. I was pleasantly
surprised to find a small library that had indexed every birth, death and
marriage for their local newspaper. I found a large number of Arkansas
natives had moved to the area and that events in their home towns were
included in the paper. For instance, I found a child's death that occurred
in Carroll County, Arkansas that I would not have found otherwise as there is
no stone and he was born and died between census years. Worth the trip to
those locally who have family that moved about.
