I noticed that in her narrative, Nannie spells her last name
"Blankinchip".....I thought that was a typo on your part (sorry) until I
noticed it spelled that way every time.

Yes Rosemary,

I had to admit that I was surprised at the spelling of Nannie's surname, too.
I had never seen Blankinship spelled that way......."Blankinchip." This
clan of Blankenships (mine and Nannie's) migrated to Izard and Independence
Cos. from Henderson Co., Tennessee, circa 1850.

My descendant in Izard Co., Lewis Blank"en"ship had eleven children and his
last child; James Calvin was the ONLY child to spell the surname with an "in"
in lieu of the "en"......and that is specifically who I descend from through
his daughter, Nancy Emma Blankinship (b1892 in Melbourne).

Who knows, I frankly suspect it was a matter of literacy.

I hope you are enjoying the social aspect of Nannie's writings.

Bernie
