The last time I was in Jackson County, Arkansas, a cousin of mine had an
obituary of J. Roy Fortenberry. I don't know why he had it, but here it is:

J. ROY FORTENBERRY

J. Roy Fortenberry, 74, a resident of Jackson county died Monday in a
Memphis Hospital. He was born June 2, 1905 in Smithville, Ark. He served as
an elder of the Church of Christ in Tuckerman, was a retired farmer and
school teacher. He served on the Board of Education of the Tuckerman Special
School District for 14 years and on the Jackson County Democratic Central
Committee for 47 years.
He is survived by his wife Virgie Murphy Fortenberry; two daughters,
Janice Fortenberry of West Memphis and Nancy Fortenberry Runion of
Lexington, TN; one sister, Ruth Fortenberry Soden of Tuckerman; one brother
K.C. Fortenberry of Tuckerman; and two grandchildren.
Services were today at 2pm at the Church of Christ in Tuckerman.

Pallbearers include Elwood Fisher, Jim Fields, Claude Ferguson, Billy
Webb, Bob Penix, and Jim Thomas. Honorary pallbearers Jack Hicks, Max
McColl, Fred Gilbert, Ed Pretty, Jr., Fred Paxton and Van Smith.
