La Myra,
Thanks for sharing your information and ideas. Do you belong to the Wayne
County mailing list? Perhaps a plea for a look-up on the information in
the book would be heeded by some kind soul.
Regarding Mahala & Melinda Knight, I seperated the two Charles H. MAYFIELDS
from each other until I can prove one way or another, but I was just
looking at the birth dates on both the wives, and they are 1837, and the
birthdates for both Charles H.'s are 1833. AND, they share two of the same
daughters' names.
After having found how close the MAYFIELDS lived to Baxter County, I have
become even more convinced that we are talking about the two same families.
When I read in the article that Charles Henderson MAYFIELD was born in
Mayfield, KY, then saw in some of Rosemary's Mother's notes on the
MAYFIELDS, that she had them listed as having been in Mayfield, KY, I
believe I am dealing with the same families. Plus, the HIGHTOWER
connection. Both MAYFIELDS had HIGHTOWER connections. AND, the name
HENDERSON was passed on to a nephew of Charles H., to boot!
I don't know if the transcription that I have is the same as yours, but I
will certainly look closer at the pages, in case something was not indexed.
