Hello Betty,
I'd been seeing yours and Sue's names out there occasionally and thought
they sounded familiar.
Thanks so much for your input.
Mother has informed me that we are supposed to be related to Dollie Melton
m. Rube Coleman. So I am trying to figure out where that connection is.
Dollie's family doesn't seem to have kept up with anything on the Meltons so
I am kind of starting from scratch here. The twins, Elzira and Eliza
Melton, got me curious as I couldn't seem to connect them to anyone else and
wasn't sure if they were born Meltons or if Eliza was another C. W. widow
and their maiden names were something else.
This is what I 've got pieced together on Dollie's line so far. Does this
look right to the other Melton researchers? 1880 census has me confused as
Tilford seems to have been placed at head of the wrong family that year???

Here is a little bit more info about the Lambs and Meltons:
SHARING INFORMATION ON THE
WOLFORD/WOOLFORDS
Submitted by Emma L. Adams

William Wolford/Woolford and JULIA HOLLAND MELTON were married on
Feb. 5, 1852 in Clinton Township, Hickman County, Kentucky. He was born
in Virginia and Julia was born in Tennessee. All their children were
born in Kentucky. They were:
On the 1860 census in Hickman Co. William (28), Julia (32), Susan
J. (6), George I. (4); Mary J. (Molly) (3), and William A. (6/12). Also
born to them were Rena born 1861, Dodge born 1863 and Agnes "Kitty" born
ca. 1868.
They can't be found in the 1870 census. Howeer it has been told
that William (Sr.) was killed by bushwhackers and that his children came
to Arkansas with their mother helped by their UncleQuill Lamb and his
family. It is thought that Quill's wife and Julia were sisters. But
Quill and family are still in Hickman Co. in 1870 census.
In the 18880 Izard Co. (LaCrosse Township) we pick up Julia, Dodge,
Anna (?), Rena, Agens and George. Molly is now married to my
great-grandfather, James M.D. Tate and settled in Randolph Co., Ark. and
William Wolford wa staying with them. Quill Lamb and family are in
Izard.
Julia is assumed to have died during the 1880-1900 time period for
she does not appear in the 1900 census. George married Betty Young
(Later Malinda Banniing Vancoyer and Medie Johnston) and died in October
1918. He is buried at Mount Pleasant. Dodge married Berthina Melton
and nothing more is known of this family. William A. married Eliza
Virginia Elizabeth King in Randolph Co. but later moved to Independence
County and died in 1902 and buried at Louis Cemetery (no marker).
Several of these children and descendants settled in the area; Kitty
married John McNeese and after he died, married James Sasser and lived
in Randolph Co. and later Lawrence Co. but nothing is known of her
family; Rena married George Dowdy and lived in Randolph Co. and her
descendants are still in the area. Molly had passed on before the 1900
census.

1986)
Hope this will help you.
